Botswana, a land of diverse beauties, is ideally located in the heart of southern Africa. Botswana has enjoyed remarkable economic growth since independence. From being one of the poorest countries, Botswana has emerged as one the fastest growing economies in the world. Its natural beauty lies in its wilderness, wildlife and cultural diversity.
The Okavango Delta, in the midst of the Kalahari sands, is Africa's largest and most beautiful oasis. The River Okavango, which rises in the highlands of Angola, never reaches the sea; instead, its mighty waters empty over the sand of the Kalahari Desert. Here the thirstland of the south meets a blue-green wilderness of fresh water, with emerald reedbeds and towering trees. The Okavango Delta is one of the world's greatest mysteries – water in a desert! The Kalahari Desert is the largest continuous stretch of sand in the world and within it lays the magnificent Okavango delta, an area that is home to a myriad of animal and bird species. The area is a magnificent expanse of waterways, floodplains, forested islands and lagoons that covers about 18,000 sq kms. This African oasis originates from a catchment area in Angola called the Cubango River that flows southeast through Namibia as the Kavango River and finally enters Botswana 1000 miles later as the Okavango River. Once here the fate of the River is determined by a series of parallel fault lines that lie deep below the desert surface. Once the river passes over the first fault line, known as the Gomare fault, it splits up into several waterways and channels that spread out and create that fan like pattern that is actually visible from space. When the water finally reaches the final two fault lines, known as the Kunyere and Thamalakane faults, the water is literally dammed up here and disappears into the Kalahari in an almost magical fashion.

The day starts with early morning buffet breakfast, before the morning game drive, and will be followed by a brunch made of various fresh ingredients. Snacks and cakes are available through the day, sundowner drinks are offered either during game drives or in front of the campfire. A wide selection of drinks is available at the bar.
About the Moremi Game Reserve - Wildlife & Activities
The environment : Khwai is a private community run concession on the eastern border of the Moremi Game Reserve along the river Khwai. The magnificent Khwai River forms a boundary between the reserve and the community area, and is the hub for some of the most outstanding wildlife viewing both on the Moremi and in the Khwai area. The river is the sole source of water for miles around attracting wildlife from afar. The vegetation here is quite different from the Western section of Moremi where great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands occur in close proximity to open grasslands and the Khwai River.
Wildlife : Wildlife encountered include lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, as well as a multitude of other animals, including elephant, buffalo, zebra, hippo and giraffe to name a few.
The Khwai Community: It is quite unusual for a camp to be so close to a village, and this village is home to river bushmen from the Bayei group, who carry out a naturally harmonious lifestyle. As Khwai concession is community run, all proceeds from tourism go directly to help local people and local projects through the Khwai Community Trust.
Activities : Game drives, guided walks and night drives, village visits to the Khwai Community, day trips to Moremi Game Reserve. This being a community CONCESSION (meaning privately owned), we will enjoy night drives as well as walking activities, which are not permitted in National Parks or Game Reservesin addition to the usual game drives. Exploring after dark with spotlights offers you an opportunity to experience some of the nocturnal animals that are rarely encountered during theday. There is the added opportunity to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot and enjoy an up close personal encounter with the flora and fauna.
Visitors are encouraged to walk through the village of Khwai, meet some of the elders, and learn how the people live alongside animals in close contact to nature.
Our guides are some of the most experienced naturalists and professional guides in Botswana
