Zimbabwe offers scenic landscapes, remnants of ancient civilizations, abundant and diverse wildlife and the most qualified safari guides in the Africa. It is home to one of the world's seven natural wonders, the world famous and spectacular Victoria Falls. With some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities, being on safari in Zimbabwe is truly a traveler's dream come true. Significant parks that play an important role in the protection of wildlife in Zimbabwe include Mana Pools National Park and Hwange National Park; both of which we will explore during morning and night game drives, as well as during water and walking safaris. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its intense natural beauty and abundant wildlife, Mana Pools is a spectacular park. After plunging over Victoria Falls and filling Lake Kariba, the Zambezi River opens up, becoming a fertile floodplain with four main "pools" and several smaller pools. Set in the heart of the lush Zambezi Valley, the Mana Pools area boasts one of the highest concentrations of elephants and buffalo in Africa during the dry season. Next, situated on the eastern edge of the Kalahari Desert, Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe's premier wildlife area, and the dry home to one of the densest concentrations of game in Africa. Its ecological diversity guarantees large numbers of game year-round along with excellent birding.

In addition to all of the game drives, water and walking safaris during our Zimbabwe safari, we'll visit Victoria Falls and town, participate in an elephant back safari, visit local markets and traditional villages. A safari in the parks in Zimbabwe is incredible and wildlife includes the BIG 5 and much more throughout the entire safari. Expect to see elephant, Cape buffalo, sable, roan, southern giraffe, zebra, rhino, blue wildebeest, impala and much more. Hwange National Park is one of the best parks for predators. Lion, leopard, wild dog and cheetah are regularly sighted, along with the smaller African wildcat, serval, honey badger, civet and spotted hyena. Bird life in the area is fantastic, with more than 400 species found.

About Victoria Falls - The Victoria Falls constitutes one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world. The Local people call it "Mosi-oa-Tunya" -- the smoke that thunders and the Falls are remarkable. There is a magic about them manifested in the towering column of spray when the river is high, the thunder of the falling water, the terrifying abyss and tranquil lagoons upstream in which hippo and deadly crocodiles lurk. The Victoria falls is 1 708 meters wide, making it the largest curtain of water in the world. It drops between 90m and 107m into the Zambezi Gorge and an average of 550,000 cubic metres of water plummet over the edge every minute. Remarkably preserved in its natural state, Victoria falls inspires visitors as much today as it did David Livingstone in the 1860's. The falls and the surrounding area have been declared National Parks and a World Heritage Site, thus preserving the area from excessive commercialization.

About Mana Pools - Mana Pools is a wildlife conservation area in northern Zimbabwe constituting a National Park. It is a region of the lower Zambezi River in Zimbabwe where the flood plain turns into a broad expanse of lakes after each rainy season. As the lakes gradually dry up and recede, the region attracts many large animals in search of water, making it one of Africa's most renowned game-viewing regions. Mana means 'four' in Shona, in reference to the four large permanent pools formed by the meanderings of the middle Zambezi. These 2,500 square kilometers of river frontage, islands, sandbanks and pools, flanked by forests of mahogany, wild figs, ebonies and baobabs, is one of the least developed National Parks in Southern Africa. The park is now a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has the country's biggest concentration of hippos and crocodiles, and large dry season mammal populations of elephant and buffalo. Other popular mammals include the zebra and eland. The remote and beautiful Mana Pools National Park also offers a mosaic of amazing habitats with some rare bird species.
